Imperfectly Perfect: Our Interview with Owner of Imperfect Concepts Boutique Natasha Robinson

Here at 3 D.O.L.L.S. we truly appreciate all things fashion!  We feel that fashion is such a great way to express yourself so we are always looking for the latest and greatest fashion pieces to spruce up our wardrobe and compliment our style! Because we feel that fashion doesn't always have to break your bank, we are always on the lookout for deals and steals for the hottest new pieces.  This is why we were very impressed when we came across Imperfect Concepts Boutique online.  This online boutique offers new, vintage, and preloved fashionable items at affordable prices!  When we found this out we just had to know who came up with such an awesome idea!  Luckily, we had the pleasure of interviewing the lovely Ms.Natasha Robinson!  This young entrepreneur embodies the business savvy spirit we celebrate on our site and did we mention she's a doll?!  Check out our interview with Ms. Robinson below!

D.O.L.L.S. - What made you launch an online resale boutique?
Natasha - I've always wanted my own company since I was a kid. So, my boutique has always been a focal point in my life, for which I was waiting for the right time to achieve. Opening an online resale boutique versus a storefront that carries designer items was an easy decision for me. It was a cost effective business decision: easier start up cost and low maintenance.

D.O.L.L.S. - What is your company’s business philosophy?

Natasha - Imperfect Concepts Boutique desires to cater to all women by providing amazing luxury, vintage and pre-loved pieces at the fraction of the cost. If you feel good, you're more likely to succeed in the area of life you're working on. Clothing makes women feel great. A power suit or new pair of stilettos can change a lady’s outlook on life for the day. I want to be a part of helping enhance a woman’s wardrobe and her life.

D.O.L.L.S. - Who are some fashion designers that inspire you?

Natasha - The late great Alexander McQueen was the epitome of inspiring. His work always gave me inspiration for my life. I would also say Marc Jacobs and Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B.

D.O.L.L.S. - If you could collaborate with any designer, who would it be and

Natasha - Gwen Stefani, hands down. She is super talented and makes pieces for all women. I get a piece from her line every season. She translates her pieces to work wherever and however you wear them. They're causal, sexy, chic and even great career pieces.

D.O.L.L.S. - What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs in the process of launching a business?

Natasha - Utilize all of your free resources. Starting a business is not a cheap, so if you can save hundreds by using free sources, use them. Find a mentor who works in your field. Pick their brain and discuss everything you can possibly think of. Research is your best friend. And have someone you can lean on. Finally, know success does not come overnight but when you do achieve it, it will taste as sweet as you expected.

D.O.L.L.S. - What motivates you to keep pushing for this dream?

Natasha - Myself. I tell people that the only person I can ever disappoint is myself. I put my goals and dreams as high as possible. I want to be great at what I do. When your dreams turn into reality it is a beautiful thing to watch.

D.O.L.L.S. - Where do you see your boutique 5 years from now?

Natasha - There are so many things I see for my company.  Megan of Refine Style told me to visualize where you want to be and hustle backwards until you get there. So, I am visualizing where I want my company to be and as soon as I find out I'll be hustling to get there.

D.O.L.L.S. - Describe your online resale boutique and tell how it stands out
from competition.

Natasha - Imperfect Concepts is the best-kept secret for resale shopping online. It's a great place for women of all income levels to shop at and find great luxury pieces that enhance their wardrobe. Standing out is not hard because customer service is our focal point. I understand customers are a bit hesitant when purchasing a pre loved garment, so I help them throughout the whole shopping experience. Customer service is essential for a small company and I try to thrive in that area so it keeps my shoppers coming back and referring new customers.

D.O.L.L.S. - What preparation (i.e. education/hands-on experience) did you need to begin this business?

Natasha - I have a BA from Southern University in Public Relations & Marketing. Education is really important to my family and to me. I was always told you should never go a day without learning something so I make a point to do that. During college, I had an amazing mentor. She guided me into the direction of the type of success I wanted to achieve. She was instrumental and helping me get to this point. Furthermore, someone once told me that the five people you surround yourself with are the people become. Therefore, I ONLY allow positive people in my life.
Networking has also been a great tool I use. No matter how tired I am, if I'm supposed to be at networking event, I'm there. Word of mouth about our personalized customer service is the main reason the store has achieved so much success.
