Bloggers We Love: AisforAlex from TheGoodHairBlog.com

Published on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in ,

Alexandra has definitely got a blog with flair, and it's a great blog to check out if you're new to natural hair or just need to switch your style up a bit! Check out what she has to say below, and then click on over to her blog (http://www.thegoodhairblog.com/)! Enjoy!

D.O.L.L.S: How would you describe your blogging style?
Alex: I would say that my blogging style is conversational. I love for my writing to come off as if I am sitting face to face, chatting with my readers. I feel like that makes the posts more fun to read.

D.O.L.L.S: What inspired you to start blogging?
Alex: I decided to start my hair blog after big chopping for the third time. I was basically trying to keep an online journey to see my progress and to keep me away from relaxing my hair again. It seemed to work and out of now where, I developed this amazing following. My readers are great and if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t blog. Seriously!

D.O.L.L.S: What keeps you motivated to continue blogging?
Alex: I love the feedback and networking opportunities. It’s so fun to fellowship online with likeminded people and get their input on the content they’d like to see.

D.O.L.L.S: What's the best thing a blogger can give to their readers and why?
Alex: I’d say a different perspective and opinion. I think that’s why people read blogs; to fish around for tips, tricks and inspiration.

D.O.L.L.S: How does your blog reflect your unique style and beliefs?
Alex: Honestly, I think my blog is a reflection of me more than my style/beliefs. I really like to give my readers a taste of my life. So when I do things like post about my daughter or inspiration, I think it gives that “I can relate to her” feeling. That’s my goal; I want my readers to feel like they can come to my blog, find information, get inspired and relate to me.

D.O.L.L.S: Has social media in any way helped to enhance the blogging experience for you? How?
Alex: Yes! When social media is used the RIGHT WAY, it’s a Godsend. I love being able to go on Twitter or Tumblr and get really personal with my readers. Sometimes we don’t even talk about hair; it’s nice to have that online family. I have readers and followers from all over the world and that’s awesome to me! Diversity is good, not to mention my #NaturalHair ladies keep me laughing and entertained throughout the day on Twitter.

D.O.L.L.S: What's your favorite post that you wish everyone who came to your blog would read and why?
Alex: My favorite post would have to be “Proud.” It’s under the “random” tab on my blog. That post is really personal to me and I think a lot of women can take something from it.

D.O.L.L.S: Name 2 bloggers who you like to read on a regular basis and why?
Alex: Curly Nikki and Kinky Kurly Queen! Those two ladies are on my top 10 favorite natural hair bloggers list. Their sites are so informative in different ways, I just LOVE them.

D.O.L.L.S: What can our readers expect to find when they drop by your blog?
Alex: Umm, a little bit of this mixed with a little bit of that about curly hair and my journey.

D.O.L.L.S: What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
Alex: LOL, can I be silly for a minute? Please, don’t have music playing! That’s a huge turn off to readers. I may be a blogger but I am a reader too. Music is distracting and so are busy pages. Keep it simple sistahs (or brothas, whichever works).
