Getting to Know our Man of the Month

D.O.L.L.S: What was the last movie you went to see?
Angelo: Limitless.  It was such an amazing movie

D.O.L.L.S: If you were a type of food, what type of food would you be?
Angelo: I would be an orange. You have to peel back the outer layer before you get to the heart of who I am.

D.O.L.L.S: If you won $20 million in the lottery, what would you do with the money?
Angelo: I would make sure my family was financially stable, pay off my student loans and invest the rest in some mentoring projects I’m working on

D.O.L.L.S: How do you tackle stress
Angelo: Praying daily and separating myself from potential stressors.

Looking Towards the Future with our Man of the Month

D.O.L.L.S: What dream are you currently pursuing?
Angelo: I’m currently pursuing a few dreams. My main dream is to spread my music and poetry to the world by becoming a recording artist. My other dream is to become a Vice President at a college/university.

D.O.L.L.S: What are the first steps you took to follow your dreams?
Angelo: In order to pursue my music and poetry dreams I have released a mixtape entitled “Eye Declare War” and participated in regional and national poetry competitions. To pursue my career in higher education I currently work at a junior college as an Academic Specialist and plan on starting my Masters program in Higher Education in 2012.

D.O.L.L.S: What are some roadblocks that you have come across?
Angelo: I’ve had people offer false promises and attempt to discourage me but I just use that as fuel
 to keep pushing.

D.O.L.L.S: Who are some individuals in your field you admire and would like to work with in the future?
Angelo: In the realm of music I admire Phonte, Musiq and J Cole. They are all inspirations to me. In the spoken word field I greatly admire CP Maze and Black Ice, both of whom I’m good friends with. And lastly, in higher education I look up to Boyd Jones, the Director of Campus Programming at Winthrop University.

D.O.L.L.S: Is there anything that you’d like our readers to learn from you?
Angelo: I’d want them to know that the only limits to what we can do are the ones we put on ourselves.

D.O.L.L.S: What advice do you have for young men your age?
Angelo: My advice is to realize that we’re the next generation of great male role models and live life like the world is watching.

D.O.L.L.S: At this point in your life, what makes you happiest?
Angelo: Being able to wake up every morning and to have loving friends and family around me.

D.O.L.L.S: What motto do you live by?
Angelo: “An appetite for success can only be fueled by the hunger of ambition”

D.O.L.L.S: How do you stay motivated to accomplish your goals?
Angelo: I stay motivated by being around others who are also motivated and concentrated on their goals.

D.O.L.L.S: What can we look forward to from you in the future?
Angelo: This year I plan to release a poetry cd and 2 music projects and am co-founding a mentoring program entitled Project D.R.E.A.M. with my good friend Doug Pearson. Every day I post life snacks on twitter which are affirmations and inspirational quotes I come up with.  My Eye Declare War mixtape is available for FREE download at melodikrukus.bandcamp.com.
